Sean Murphy
Dublin-born Sean Murphy has been Cape Cod's go-to keeper of traditional Irish music since 2005—leading weekly sessions, teaching set dancing, and performing ceili events from Yarmouth to Nantucket.
Born and raised in Dublin, Sean Murphy came to live on Cape Cod in 2005, bringing deep roots in traditional Irish music, set dancing, and céilí culture with him. He teaches Irish set and céilí dancing and traditional Irish music at venues across Cape Cod and Nantucket, and leads a weekly session at O'Shea's Olde Inne. Murphy plays in a local traditional Irish music group and has performed with his session players at events such as the Day of Irish Culture at Sons of Erin Cape Cod. He has taught courses at the Cape Cod Cultural Center, Cape Cod Sons of Erin, the Cotuit Center for the Arts, the Irish Cultural Center of New England, and venues on Nantucket. In 2014, the Cape Cod St. Patrick's Day Committee awarded him the Thomas P. McCann Altruism Award for his commitment to Irish heritage.
