Climb the tallest all-granite tower in the U.S. for sweeping Cape Cod views, plus a museum spanning Pilgrim, Wampanoag, and LGBTQ+ history.
Standing 252 feet above Provincetown, the Pilgrim Monument is the tallest all-granite tower in the United States — and the views from the top earn their reputation. Climb 116 steps and 60 ramps to take in sweeping panoramas of the town, Cape Cod Bay, the surrounding seashore, and on a clear day, all the way to Boston. The monument marks the site of the Mayflower Pilgrims' first landing in the New World in 1620, making it one of the most historically significant spots in the country.
At the base, the Provincetown Museum goes well beyond a single chapter of history. Current exhibits explore the complex relationship between the Wampanoag people and the Mayflower Pilgrims, and a dedicated LGBTQ+ exhibit traces a century of personal stories from life in Provincetown — making PMPM unusually broad in scope for a monument site. Group tours are available for students, families, scouts, and senior travelers.
The grounds, with their harbor views and recently renovated outdoor spaces, also serve as an event venue from May through October, available for weddings, corporate gatherings, and fundraising events. An annual Lighting on the Hill celebration draws visitors each autumn.
