Portside Tavern

Restaurant · Bar

Family-owned Hyannis tavern with seasonal American cuisine, South Shore pizza, 24 craft beers on tap, a sports bar, and a rooftop Irish pub.

Tucked one block north of Main Street in a historic sea captain's house, Portside Tavern is a family-owned spot that packs a surprising amount of variety into one address. The main level sets a nautical-themed backdrop for seasonal American cuisine — think duck, veal meatloaf, and Southern fried chicken — with both small and large plate options that make it work equally well for a midday bite or a full dinner. Lobster sliders, scallops wrapped in bacon with bourbon maple glaze, and fresh-shucked oysters signal that the kitchen takes its ingredients seriously.

Downstairs, the sports bar shifts the mood entirely: 33 TVs, including what the tavern bills as the largest projection-screen TV south of Gillette Stadium, plus the South Shore Bar Pizza that the house calls the best in the area. Up top, Scruffy Murphy's Irish pub and a rooftop bar round out the options. More than 25 wines, 24 craft beers on tap, and a lineup of craft cocktails keep things well-stocked throughout. Free parking, free Wi-Fi, and wheelchair accessibility make the logistics easy.
