Tucked into the heart of Falmouth Village on Main Street, La Cucina Sul Mare has been bringing the flavors of Northern Italy and the Mediterranean to Cape Cod since May 2002. Chef and co-owner Mark Cilfone — who honed his craft at a renowned Italian restaurant in Florida before settling in Falmouth — turns out dishes like old-world meat lasagna, braised short rib cacciatore, veal saltimbocca, halibut limone, and rigatoni alla vodka, with homemade desserts rounding out the meal. The full bar, added in a 2011 expansion, pairs well with a wine list, specialty cocktails, and seasonal drinks.
This is a family operation in the truest sense: Mark and his wife Cynthia opened the restaurant as a shared dream, and all three of their children now work alongside them in the day-to-day. Sunday brunch (10:30 AM–3 PM) makes it a useful option beyond dinner, and lunch service runs Tuesday through Saturday. Reservations are available, a wise move for a spot this well-established in a busy Cape Cod town.
