Surf Drive Beach

The beach has restroom facilities and a parking lot, which fills fast in summer, so locals know to show up before 9am or risk circling. The stroll along Surf Drive itself is one of Falmouth's great simple pleasures, lined with hydrangeas and shingled cottages.

Surf Drive Beach sits within easy reach of Falmouth center and the Shining Sea Bikeway, Cape Cod's gorgeous rail trail, which runs right alongside the water not far from here. Rent a bike, ride the trail, then reward yourself with a dip — it's the perfect Cape Cod afternoon. The beach is technically a town beach, so non-resident parking requires a daily or seasonal permit purchased through the Town of Falmouth, but the modest fee is well worth it. Bring a cooler, a good book, and your snorkel gear if you have it — the nearshore waters here are clear enough to make it worthwhile.
